Visitamos Turntable LP Bar & Karaoke, uno de los lugares más originales, divertidos y curiosos de la ciudad de New York. Hablamos con Myunghun Choi, conocido como MH, uno de los creadores sobre este concepto único, donde la música es el alma del lugar.

Siempre que viajamos a New York, buscamos conocer algo distinto, nuevo y original. Todo es atractivo en la ciudad, de eso no hay duda alguna. Llegamos a este lugar tan singular por medio de una búsqueda random. Porque realmente es un secreto único.

Ubicado y escondido en el corazón de Midtown, Turntable LP Bar & Karaoke, es un gastropub coreano moderno, pero informal. Cálido y relajado.

Se encuentra exactamente dentro de un edificio, en el quinto piso, y cuando ingresamos, nos enamoramos de un lugar encantador. Donde, por sobre todas las cosas, se aprecia la buena música. Creado desde el corazón, por gente apasionada, logrando una experiencia mágica.

Turntable LP Bar se inspiró justamente en eso, en el amor por la música, que, inmediatamente, se refleja en su interior, cuidadosamente curado. Donde se pueden apreciar miles de vinilos, portadas de discos icónicos, y radios de todas las épocas. Emocionarse, es poco.

Sobre la cultura del vinilo. Mucha gente tiene nostalgia. Y quienes no saben, se informan.

Ingresar a Turntable es estar por un tiempo dentro de una burbuja, un viaje en el tiempo, el ruido de la ciudad de New York queda distante. La música se apodera de tus sentidos.

«Nació hace 10 años, pero en esta locación estamos hace tres. Mayormente viene gente que trabaja en los alrededores, co-wokers, gente que quiere comer bien, pasar un buen rato. Y también hay muchos neoyorkinos que vienen regularmente. Estudiantes, y algunos turistas de Europa, que nos comentaron que nunca vieron algo así», enfatiza MH.

Posee tres sala privadas para hacer karaoke, que se las puede rentar, para celebrar eventos, cumpleaños, o solo para disfrutar una hora de relax luego de la oficina. Donde, por supuesto, también se puede beber los mejores cócteles, cerveza, y comer la variedad de exquisiteces que ofrecen.

Las salas están bautizadas de la mejor manera: La sala Beatles, Elvis Presley y Warhol.

«Es un concepto único. Ya no se encuentran lugares asi, vintage. Tal vez la gente más grande aprecia más la música de los años 50, 60», indica MH

«Es un lugar sobre la historia de la música, recordarle a la agente de donde vino la música.. y que no estaríamos ACÁ sin toda esta gente».

También hablamos sobre los tiempos que se viven, la pandemia que afectó a todo el mundo, literalmente, y por supuesto que golpea fuerte, pero no solo al rubro gastronómico y a New York. Hay que adaptarse, y esperar. Manejarse con el servicio Take Away, hasta que todo pase.

Hay que mencionar el excelente trato del equipo de Turntable, cálido y amable, atentos en todo momento, potenciando la grata experiencia.

Amantes de las selfies, todo el lugar es instragrameable!

El menú informal tiene sus raíces en las tradiciones coreanas de anju y chimek. Anju, es la palabra coreana para alimentos combinados con alcohol. Chimek es el término abreviado que combina la palabra «pollo» y maekju, la palabra coreana para cerveza.

La comida combina los platos familiares que uno conoce, pero con un toque de algo nuevo. Todo el menú cuenta con ingredientes de alta calidad y combina perfectamente con las diversas variedades de bebida. Ya sea que se comparta con vino, licores, o la exclusiva torre de cerveza. No vas poder creer esa torre de cerveza!

El pollo es algo que no podes dejar de probar, pero también hay platos vegetarianos que resultaron una sorpresa y un placer para el paladar.

Si bien es competitivo el negocio, porque es muy demandante la ciudad de New York, al final es algo bueno, porque hay mucha gente, muchas culturas y con un producto tan bien pensado, el éxito es seguro.

Everytime we travel to New York, we are looking for something different, new and original. Everything is attractive in the city, no doubt about that. We arrived at this unique place through a random search. Because it really is a unique «secret».

Located and hidden in the heart of Midtown, Turntable LP Bar & Karaoke is a modern but informal Korean gastropub. Warm and relaxed.

It is located inside a building, on the fifth floor, and when we entered, we fell in love with this charming place. Where, above all things, good music is appreciated. Created from the heart, by passionate people, achieving a magical ambience.

Turntable LP Bar & Karaoke was inspired exactly by that, the love for music, which, immediately, is reflected in its carefully curated interior. Where you can see thousands of vinyls records, iconic album covers, and radios from all eras.

Entering Turntable is being in a bubble for a while, a trip back in time, the noise of New York City is distant. Music takes over your senses.
